Eielson Air Force Base is located near Fairbanks, Alaska and has been instrumental in deploying fighter and bomber units for defending the Alaskan territory. The base survived closure threats during the BRAC 2005 initiative and is home to the 354th Fighter Wing which provides close air support and training for combat in a simulated environment. Upon arrival at the base, military personnel should check in at the Eielson Housing Management Office which is located in Building 2529. All on-post housing and BAH rates are assigned by rank. There are currently over 150 Officer and over 1,000 enlisted housing units on post at Eielson Air Force Base. Applications can be submitted for available houses for rent or purchase. Off-post facilities are handled by the Housing Management Flight office. The office handles properties within a 30 mile radius of the base. If soldiers are single, there are over 600 dormitories available on post.
